Church School / Nursery

St. Stephen's Church

We ask parents to register children who will be taking part in any of the programs provided for children and youth at St. Stephen's.

NURSERY CARE will be available 10:15 - 11:30, for children up to age 5, provided by their parents with high school helpers, on a rotating basis.  The nursery is located downstairs in the Peatling Room, the corner room at the end of the hall.

PRESCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY GRADES

Episcopal Children's Curriculum (ECC)

ECC was developed by the Virginia Theological Seminary and Morehouse Publishing for use in Episcopal churches.  Using the Bible, the Hymnal and the Book of Common Prayer for resources, ECC follows the seasons of the church year using a 3-year cycle.  Stories, prayer, games, crafts, drama, singing and other activities make up each lesson.  This year we use the "Chalice" curriculum; there will be four units focusing on the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Eucharist and the Church.

SPECIAL PROJECTS and PROGRAMS

In addition to the regular Sunday curriculum, teachers may use activities and ideas from other sources and resources such as the Beulahland felt storyboard.

We will work on ongoing projects involving art, music and outreach.    These activities will be announced in the Messenger, in the bulletins, and in e-mails to parents.  Stacy DeBritz, Tim Olsen and Richey Woodzell will lead these activities.
